Marion
Winter, MAA, HS
Marion was born in
Dresden, Germany, and lives since her arrival in Australia in 1988 on
Queensland's Gold Coast.
For many years,
she was building dolls houses for collectors, and it was this hobby giving her
the incentive to take lessons in miniature painting in late 1996.
Encouraged by very early successes, she put all her effort and time into this
new interest and stopped building dolls houses. Already in April 1997, she
received a "Highly Commended" award for one of her miniatures.
Many first, second and third prizes were to follow. Marion paints
miniatures and large works mostly in oils, but likes to switch occasionally to
watercolours. She took further tuition in seminars by John Sindelar, John
Lovett, and Marcel Desbiens.
As a member of the
Australian Society of Miniature Art (ASMA) in Queensland, she was for many years
secretary, president and exhibition manager. With the financial support of
the Gold Coast City Council and Art Queensland, she organized a touring
exhibition of 200 Australian miniatures through Germany in 2001.
Marion is now a
member of several Miniature Art Societies in the USA as well as in
England, and likes to participate in activities to further the worldwide
interest in Miniature Art. In 2020, Marion was honored with signature
membership in the Miniature Artists of America (MAA)
We at The Snow
Goose Gallery are very pleased to represent this outstanding artist.
