Linda
Rossin,MAA, SAA
"Everything I see, everywhere I look, a painting
waits to come to life. Creative minds have proclaimed their feelings
through various forms of expression for millennia, but it is the painting that
communicates a simple or complex message in an instant. It sees no age or
gender, and speaks every language found on earth. My paintings are a
celebration of life. They are momentary journeys that are filled with
nature's richness, beauty and dignity, and provide a temporary shelter from our
otherwise fast paced, busy world."
Linda Rossin has been professionally painting poignant portrayals of birds and
animals for over twenty- five years. Although she may produce large scale
works, Linda's main focus for the last fifteen years has been on creating highly
collectable miniature art. Acrylics are used for these little gems, but
for larger pieces or en plein air, she often chooses to work with oil.
Linda's approach to painting is greatly influenced by the impressionists, and
although her work appears highly detailed, impressionistic techniques are
integrated into each piece, including miniatures. may sources are drawn
upon for research, but it is the artist's personal observations and wild
encounters that bring each Rossin painting to life.
By age 40, Linda's successful career in advertising gave way to
her childhood affinity for painting the animal. A portal to the
world of miniatures opened shortly after thereafter when she experimented with
working in little. Years of hard work in both genres have garnered Ms. Rossin countless awards, distinctive honors, associations, and recognition among
collectors, editors, museums and peers.
Ms. Rossin was inducted into the Society of Animal Artists (SAA)
in 2002, and her paintings have been consistently selected for annual
exhibitions and national tours. Artists for Conservation (AFC) has
accepted Linda's work for exhibition annually; in 2009 she was a recipient of
the coveted Medal of Excellence. The World Federation of Miniatures
featured Linda's work in the Third Exhibition of Fine Art in Miniature at The
Smithsonian, Washington, DC and the Fourth Worldwide Exhibition, "The
Little Big Picture" at The Burnie Regional Art Gallery, Burnie, Tasmania,
Australia. over the years, numerous print publications have featured this
dedicated artist within their pages. Her work also appears in the
hardcover editions of The Best of Wildlife Art, volumes 1 and 2, North
Light Books. Two recently published books include information about Linda:
Modern Masters of Miniature Art in America and Best of Worldwide
Wildlife Artists. Limited edition prints are currently being sold
throughout North America and overseas, while her originals can be found in
private collections across the USA, abroad and in the Permanent Collection of
the Miniature Art Society of Florida.
Ms. Rossin has served as both juror and judge for major national
and international miniature art shows. She has exhibited extensively in
many prestigious art exhibitions and events across the country. Along with
her signature status within the Society of Animal Artists, (SAA), she is also a
signature member of the Miniature Artist of America (MAA), and the Association
of Miniature Artists (AMA). She is also a member of Artists for
Conservation (AFC), the Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers Society of
Washington, DC (MPSGS), the Cider Painters of America (CPA), the Miniature Art
Society of Florida (MASF) and Nature Art International.
